Michale Gleason - Basketball Coach & Educator
Michael Gleason is a highly respected basketball coach and educator with an impressive career spanning nearly three decades. A dedicated Social Studies teacher at Westerly High School, he was recognized as the 2019 Rhode Island Civics Teacher of the Year, demonstrating his commitment to both academics and athletics.
With over 225 career wins as the head coach of the Westerly High School varsity basketball team, Coach Gleason has built a winning culture over his 17-year tenure, boasting a 60%+ career winning percentage. His leadership and coaching excellence have earned him numerous accolades, including being named Rhode Island Division 2 Coach of the Year seven times and Rhode Island State Coach of the Year in 2023.
Coach Gleason’s coaching career began in 1995, and he has since become a staple in Rhode Island basketball, both at the high school and AAU levels. Since 2017, he has been a key figure in the Rhode Island Warriors program, helping to develop young athletes and prepare them for the next level of competition.
Known for his passion, strategic mind, and ability to develop players, Coach Gleason continues to make a lasting impact on the basketball community through his dedication to teaching and coaching.
